TRENTON, N.J. (AP) - The law firm that concluded New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie had no involvement in shutting down traffic lanes for political retribution has given $10,000 to a national political group where he is chairman.

Gibson, Dunn & Crutcher made the donation to the Republican Governors Association on March 18. The donation was made public in filings released Tuesday and first reported by The Record newspaper (https://bit.ly/1ioydTz).

Nine days after the donation, the firm released a report clearing Christie of involvement in a political retribution scandal.

The firm is being paid $650 an hour by New Jersey taxpayers, but it has not yet submitted any invoices.

The international firm gave $55,000 to the GOP governors group from 2009 through last year.
