KINGSBURY, N.Y. (AP) - Authorities have charged a member of the New York Army National Guard with raping a woman, and investigators say others have come forward claiming they were attacked by the same man.

The Washington County Sheriff’s Office tells The Post-Star of Glens Falls (https://bit.ly/RoypZy ) that 35-year-old Robert Haas of Kingsbury was charged last week with raping a woman at his home.

The newspaper reports Haas met the woman while working as a recruiter for the New York Army National Guard in Watervliet (wah-ter-vuh-LEET’), but was removed from those duties last fall for reasons National Guard officials aren’t allowed to divulge.

Officials say investigators have interviewed “multiple” women who say Haas also sexually assaulted them.

Hass is being held in the county jail. His public defender says the sex with the woman he’s charged with raping was consensual.
