CHAMPAIGN, Ill. (AP) - The former head of the Illini men’s gymnastics team has been named to the USA Gymnastics Hall of Fame.

The University of Illinois says Yoshi Haynasaki will be inducted into the hall on Aug. 22 in Pittsburgh. He was the school’s head gymnastics coach for 33 seasons. During that time Haynasaki won six Big Ten titles and was named Big Ten Coach of the Year four times. He’s also been personal coach to Olympic athletes.

Haynasaki won two NCAA all-around titles as a gymnast at the University of Washington in 1970 and 1971.
