NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The U.S. Coast Guard says it rescued three crewmembers aboard an uninspected towing vessel taking on water and reportedly grounded in Lake Pontchartrain.

Coast Guard Sector New Orleans’ command center received a report Tuesday that the UTV Todd Michael was grounded on rocks near the Lakefront Airport with three people aboard. The agency says it launched an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter crew, which hoisted two people from the ship, and a response boat crew, which removed one person on a barge attached to the towing vessel.

All three men were transported to area hospitals for treatment of unspecified ailments. The Coast Guard did not provide details of the crew members’ injuries and their conditions were not immediately known.
