LEWISTON, Maine (AP) - A scheduling conflict at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee in Lewiston has been settled, with the circus taking precedence over minor league hockey.
The Kora Shrine Circus and the Portland Pirates both claimed that they had the 7 p.m. Saturday time slot, and neither organization appeared willing to budge.
The Sun Journal (https://bit.ly/1exI7TA ) reports that arena management announced Tuesday that after 24 hours of negotiations, it was decided that the circus would go on as scheduled in Lewiston while the Pirates would play their season finale at the MHG Ice Centre in Saco.
The Pirates announced that all proceeds from ticket sales to Saturday’s game would be donated to the Barbara Bush Children’s Hospital.
The Shriners said in a statement that the deal was “best for all concerned.”
