GRAND RAPIDS, Mich. (AP) - The NBA Development League’s Springfield Armor is relocating from Springfield, Mass., to Grand Rapids in western Michigan.
The official minor league for the NBA announced Tuesday that the team will be affiliated with the Detroit Pistons and begin play with the 2014-15 season at the 5,000-seat DeltaPlex Arena.
Steve Jbara’s SSJ Group purchased the Armor and will manage the day-to-day business operations and community relations. The Pistons will run basketball operations.
The Armor spent five seasons in Springfield. It will be one of 18 D-League teams in the upcoming season.
