HAMILTON, N.J. (AP) - Employees at a Home Depot store in New Jersey constructed a monument to a favorite customer who lost his battle to liver cancer.

Handyman William Abbott frequently shopped at the Home Depot store in Hamilton.

Workers sprang into action when they learned his niece wanted to construct a memorial using Home Depot materials in the weeks leading up to the 59-year-old’s death on April 4.

The workers spelled out “WE LOVE U Bill” with nuts, ropes and other hardware on an orange background. The also donated an orange employee apron on which they wrote, “With Deep hearts From Store 0927.”

Abbott’s wife, Betty Sandowski, tells The Times of Trenton (https://bit.ly/1iSh6pK ) the tribute is beautiful. It was displayed next to Abbott’s coffin during his funeral on Saturday.
