LAKEWOOD, Colo. (AP) - Authorities say Lakewood Police are investigating whether a vice and narcotics officer from Denver solicited a prostitute.

KCNC-TV reported Monday (https://tinyurl.com/kwznbh3 ) that Detective Michael Ryan is on paid administrative leave during the investigation.

The 50-year-old Ryan told the station he had not been arrested but declined to say anything else.

Lakewood Police Det. Timmy Marquez says Lakewood officers detained Ryan Thursday but didn’t arrest him.

Denver Police Cmdr. Matt Murray confirmed Ryan is under investigation by Lakewood authorities on allegations of soliciting a prostitute. Murray says Denver Police have begun an internal investigation.

In 2006, a jury in Jefferson Count acquitted Ryan on a charge of felony menacing after he was accused of pointing a gun at other people in a road rage incident.
