CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A Kanawha County man accused of stealing a vehicle with a baby inside has pleaded guilty to child neglect.

Media outlets report that Christopher Linville entered his plea to the felony charge Monday in Kanawha County Circuit Court. Prosecutors dropped a charge of possession of a stolen vehicle.

Police say Linville took a car parked at a convenience store in Charleston in January. A 9-month-old boy was in the back seat.

The car and the baby were found abandoned nearby a short time later. The baby wasn’t injured.

Linville faces one to five years in prison. Sentencing is set for May 19.
