LANSING, Mich. (AP) - Severe weather and flooding in Michigan’s Lower Peninsula have prompted the partial activation of the State Emergency Operations Center.
The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division says the center was activated about 2 p.m. Monday. The center is based in Lansing and coordinates response and recovery efforts.
The state says Mecosta, Midland, Newaygo, Osceola and Wexford counties have declared local state of emergencies which enable them to execute operations plans, and administrate local aid and assistance.
The Michigan State Police, Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division says it currently is working with local officials to make sure communities have necessary resources. No requests for state assistance had been received as of early Monday evening.
