LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Torrential rain pelted Arkansas late Sunday and left behind a cold front that’s expected to drag temperatures toward freezing early this week.
No injuries were initially reported with the storms that swept through Arkansas on Sunday. The National Weather Service says some areas saw more than 2 inches of rain, primarily along the Interstate 30 corridor.
Forecasters say Sherwood recorded 2.75 inches of rain in a three-hour period ending at 8 p.m. Sunday with 2.25 inches of rain reported at the Little Rock Air Force Base during the same time frame.
The weather service says flash flooding was reported in Little Rock, and several people were rescued from vehicles stranded in high water.
A freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. Tuesday through 10 a.m. for much of Arkansas.
