HATTIESBURG, Miss. (AP) - The identity of the pedestrian who was killed Saturday afternoon when she was struck by an 18-wheeler on Interstate 59 has been released.

Forrest County Deputy Coroner Lisa Klem tells The Hattiesburg American (https://hatne.ws/1epiR1M ) the victim was 59-year-old Carmen Corey of McLain.

Hattiesburg Police spokesman Lt. Jon Traxler said officers received a call at 4:50 p.m. reporting that a pedestrian had been stuck by an 18-wheeler traveling south on Interstate 59.

Traxler said officers found Corey dead at the scene.

Corey was traveling on foot when she was killed, but officers said they found a vehicle close to the scene of the accident.

Traxler did not say if it was the victim’s car.

No charges have been filed.
