FORT WORTH, Texas (AP) - A 42-year-old man has been sentenced to seven years in prison for igniting a bag of Molotov cocktails outside the Fort Worth office of state Sen. Wendy Davis.
Cedric Carmond Steele pleaded guilty to arson Monday as part of a plea deal. Tarrant County prosecutors say Steele tossed the bag at the door of Davis’ office near downtown.
Davis, currently running as a Democratic candidate for governor, was not in the third-floor office at the time of the March 2012 attack.
Staffers put out the blaze with a fire extinguisher and there were no injuries.
Prosecutors say Steele is a homeless man with a mental disability.
