WICHITA, Kan. (AP) - The family of a Wichita doctor killed by a hit-and-run driver has filed a lawsuit against the driver and the driver’s employer.

William H. Whiteside was struck and killed by a car in April 2012 while he was out for an evening jog. The driver, Cody A. Fields, turned himself in the next morning. Fields received probation after pleading guilty to leaving the scene of an accident.

The Wichita Eagle reports (https://bit.ly/1hK6IiO ) Whiteside’s wife and daughter are suing Fields and Pizza Hut of Southeast Kansas Inc., who Fields was working for when his car hit Whiteside.

The lawsuit claims Fields was negligent in his driving and his employer was negligent in failing to properly supervise Fields.

Defendants’ attorney Patrick Murphy has denied the allegations.
