CANTON TOWNSHIP, Mich. (AP) - A 9-year-old southeast Michigan girl has been struck and killed by a vehicle outside her school.
Canton Township police say in a release that the girl was dropped off about 8:30 a.m. Monday at Eriksson Elementary, but may have been trying to get back into the vehicle when she was struck as the driver pulled away.
The girl’s name was not released. She died from her injuries at the University of Michigan Hospital in Ann Arbor.
Police say the accident is under investigation.
Canton Township is in Wayne County, west of Detroit.
