LAKELAND, Fla. (AP) - A Tampa drag racer has died from injuries he suffered in a crash at the Lakeland Motor Speedway earlier this month.

The Lakeland Ledger (https://bit.ly/1iNRFFM) reports that 42-year-old Waldemar Vazquez died Saturday at Lakeland Regional Medical Center.

An official with the Polk County Medical Examiner’s Office said Vazquez died from head and neck injuries he suffered in the crash.

On April 5, Vazquez was traveling about 90 mph at the track when he crashed a 1981 Toyota.

A police report described the vehicle as a drag-racing car with a roll cage and five- point harness seat belt.
