SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - San Jose firefighters are waiting for a charred former television news studio to be deemed safe before looking for possible victims of a five-alarm blaze.
The former KNTV-11 building near downtown San Jose went up in flames on Sunday afternoon. Television news footage early Monday morning showed crews continuing to pour water on the building.
The vacant building was apparently being used for shelter by the homeless.
San Jose Fire Capt. Reggie Williams told the San Jose Mercury News (https://bit.ly/1kXxTKR) two people made it out safely, but firefighters were unable to immediately go inside to check for potential victims because of the heat, smoke and flames.
