ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. (AP) - An Albuquerque woman has been arrested and accused of child abuse after a 2-year-old child was found unresponsive.

The Police Department says the child has serious injuries and is hospitalized in guarded condition.

Police identify the woman arrested Monday as 24-year-old Ashley Montano. Police spokeswoman Tasia Martinez says she doesn’t know whether Montano has a lawyer yet.

According to police, the child was found when officers went to a residence in southwest Albuquerque on Sunday.

Detectives and the Children, Youth and Families Department were called to investigate.
