PARIS, Texas (AP) - Three teenagers from the East Texas town of Paris were killed in a one-vehicle crash that sent five others to hospitals.
Texas Department of Public Safety said the pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Robert Russell left the roadway, struck a tree and then rolled several times in the wreck early Sunday morning.
Russell was killed. Also killed were Colbie Miller and Bailee Sims, both 19.
DPS officials say the pickup carrying eight people had just crossed over the Pat Mayse Lake dam north of Paris when it crashed.
A spokesperson for the Paris Independent School District said all three teens who died had attended district schools. Russell and Sims graduated from Paris High School, while Miller attended North Lamar High School.
Paris is about 100 miles northeast of Dallas.
