SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - A family member has identified the driver of a FedEx truck that slammed into a charter bus carrying California high school students to a college tour, killing 10 people.
The Sacramento Bee (https://bit.ly/1sWqrFi ) reports that 32-year-old Tim Evans of Elk Grove was driving the FedEx tractor-trailor that veered into oncoming traffic on Interstate 5 on Thursday.
Debbie Otto, the stepmother of Evans’ wife, Candice, told the newspaper her son-in-law was among the people killed in the fiery collision in Orland, about 100 miles north of Sacramento.
Otto described Evans as a “kind, caring and unbelievably happy man” who had been driving professionally for several years. He grew up in Sacramento and had two young daughters.
Otto says the family is devastated and wondering what could have caused the collision.
