COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) - Authorities are looking for the driver who ran over and killed a pedestrian in Richland County and then drove away.

Investigators say the person was hit around 11 p.m. Saturday on a road east of Columbia.

Troopers are trying to find evidence at the scene to help them determine what type of vehicle was involved.

The name of the victim and the circumstances around the death have not been released.

A second pedestrian was hit by a vehicle about two hours later in Lexington County. Troopers say the driver won’t be charged because that person was illegally in the road.
