ABERDEEN, S.D. (AP) - Aberdeen’s Presentation College’s nursing program has been denied a continuance of its national accreditation.

The Aberdeen American News reports (https://bit.ly/1lXBLzt) that the school was notified of the decision on Friday by the Atlanta-based Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing Board of Commissioners.

College spokeswoman Cynthia Whitney says not all faculty have master’s degrees, which is one of the requirements for accreditation through the commission. She says those who do not have advanced degrees are working on them with help from Presentation College.

The college is appealing the decision and will hold its accreditation throughout that process.

Whitney says nursing students make up 40 percent of the 728-member student body.
