MADRID (AP) - Striker Diego Costa has returned to Atletico Madrid’s squad for Sunday’s Spanish league game at Getafe after recovering from a right thigh injury.
Atletico won the two games its leading scorer missed, beating Villarreal 1-0 in the league and eliminating Barcelona from the Champions League with a 1-0 victory.
Atletico coach Diego Simeone says Diego Costa has trained well but didn’t guarantee he would play at Alfonso Perez Stadium.
Atletico leads the Spanish league entering the 33rd round of games by one point over Barcelona as it chases its first league title since 1996.
