CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Wyoming Board of Education has decided that proposed new K-12 science standards need more review.
The board on Friday instructed the state Department of Education to conduct further review of the Next Generation Science Standards.
Jim Verley is the science content specialist who led a review of the standards last year.
Verley tells the Casper Star-Tribune (https://bit.ly/1n2BoUj ) that it’s unclear what the board’s action means for the state’s science standards.
The state Legislature earlier this year prohibited the board from spending any money to review or adopt the Next Generation Science Standards starting July 1.
The Next Generation standards have come under criticism in Wyoming for their strong assertion that humans are a leading cause of climate change, among other things.
