JACKSON, Miss. (AP) - The U.S. Department of Transportation has awarded $142,200 through the Federal Aviation Administration to Hinds County to rehabilitate the taxiway at the John Bell Williams Airport in Jackson.

U.S. Rep. Bennie Thompson, D-Miss., announced the funding Friday.

Thompson says in a statement that the money will go to Phase 1 of the rehabilitation of the taxiways and includes funding for the pavement assessment and design of the project.
