TULLYTOWN, Pa. (AP) - An FBI investigation has cleared police officers in a southeastern Pennsylvania community of wrongdoing in an incident last fall in which police used a stun gun on a handcuffed teen shoplifting suspect who’d broken free.
The 14-year-old boy’s bruised and swollen face was posted online by his mother in November. She accused Tullytown police of brutality.
Police Chief Daniel Doyle said in a statement posted Thursday that the FBI had closed its review and cleared the department.
An FBI spokeswoman says they don’t comment on the status of investigations.
Bucks County prosecutors said the handcuffed boy fell and landed on his face after being stun-gunned while running from police. He’d been arrested for allegedly shoplifting at a Walmart.
County prosecutors in December had cleared the officers of wrongdoing.
