FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. (AP) - Firefighters are battling a wind-driven wildfire south of Flagstaff that’s already charred an estimated 100 acres near the Canyon Vista Campground.
Coconino National Forest officials say no structures are threatened, there are no evacuations and the fire is burning away from the city.
U.S. Forest Service officials say three engines responded to the so-called Fisher Fire about 3 p.m. Friday and a Flagstaff hotshot crew also is on the scene near the Fisher Canyon area.
Backup crews also are en route and a helicopter also been requested to fight the fire about six miles southeast of Flagstaff.
The cause of the wildfire is under investigation.
Forest Service officials say the fire is burning in timber on slopes and is in the same area of a wildfire from last year.
