EASTON, Pa. (AP) - A former Lehigh University football player has been sentenced to one- to-two months behind bars for kicking another Lehigh student in the face during a fight outside a Bethlehem bar.
The Express-Times (https://bit.ly/1jz4Qxz) said 20-year-old Russhon Phillips of Plymouth Meeting was sentenced Friday in Northampton County Court for the attack last September.
Phillips was convicted of simple assault and public drunkenness. He apologized in court for the pain he caused the victim.
Police said 22-year-old Paul Graham was unconscious on the ground when Phillips kicked him in the face, breaking his jaw in two places and forcing him to put his education on hold.
The former Mountain Hawk defensive back was suspended from the football team following the attack. Defense attorney Michael Quinn said Phillips was later expelled from Lehigh.
