MARION, Ohio (AP) - Authorities in a central Ohio county say they’ve arrested more than three dozen people as part of an ongoing effort to cut into the trafficking of heroin, cocaine and prescription drugs.
The two-year effort by federal, state and local authorities in Marion produced the arrests of 39 people Thursday on a total of 125 felony and misdemeanor charges. The suspects were indicted by a grand jury last week.
The arrests followed those of 19 other people on federal charges in February as part of the same effort.
Ohio Attorney General Mike DeWine said the arrests Thursday targeted “mid-level traffickers and addicts who are fueling the demand for drugs being brought into Marion County.”
The county of 40,000 people is about 50 miles north of Columbus.
