LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - The State Library Board is scheduled for a special meeting later this week to distribute grants.

Friday’s meeting is at the Arkansas State Library in Little Rock.

The board is expected to distribute General Improvement Fund grants authorized during last year’s legislative session. The State Library reported receiving more than 70 applications requesting almost $1 million - but only has $141,000 to award.

The organization says it provides the resources to meet the educational, informational and cultural needs of the citizens of Arkansas. It also provides guidance and support for the development of local public libraries and library services.
