OCALA, Fla. (AP) - Silver Springs International Film Festival organizers say actor John Travolta is scheduled to make opening remarks prior to the event’s first-night screening of “The Creature from the Black Lagoon.”

The Ocala Star-Banner reports (https://bit.ly/1dKt3BD) that Travolta will appear Thursday evening at the Marion Theatre in downtown Ocala.

Travolta and his wife own a home in nearby Anthony.

Festival officials say Travolta will be introduced to festival goers prior to an opening champagne toast in the theater auditorium - just before the screening of the iconic 1954 black-and-white horror film that’s recently been restored. Parts of the movie were filmed at Silver Springs.

This is the festival’s first year.
