LANCASTER, Calif. (AP) - A Southern California man who killed his girlfriend and the daughter she hadn’t seen for 18 years gets life in prison without chance of parole.

Los Angeles County prosecutors say Christopher Brown of Lancaster was sentenced Tuesday for murder with special circumstances.

Prosecutors say Brown killed Christine Bacon in November 2006 along with her daughter, 18-year-old Crystal Dawkins.

Authorities say Dawkins flew to California from South Carolina to spend Thanksgiving with the mother she hadn’t met since birth.

Prosecutors say during the visit, Brown and Bacon got into an argument that lasted days and Brown shot both women - believing his girlfriend planned to split up but keep their home.

The bodies were found the next month after Dawkins’ father came to California to find her and authorities went to the home.
