SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) - A ceremony is planned for April 12 at President Lincoln’s tomb in Springfield to mark the 149th anniversary of his assassination.

The Illinois Historic Preservation Agency says the 9:45 a.m. ceremony will include a processional to the tomb. Addresses by Waldron K. Post, who is commander in chief of the Military Order of the Loyal Legion of the United States, and Sons of Union Veterans of the Civil War Commander Ken Freshley will follow.

In addition, the 33rd Illinois Volunteer Regiment Band will provide music.

Lincoln was shot to death by John Wilkes Booth on April 14, 1865.

His tomb is in Springfield’s Oak Ridge Cemetery.
