New York City mayoral candidate Anthony Weiner will sit down with the “Today” show’s Savannah Guthrie on Monday, just a day before New Yorkers vote in the Democratic primary.

NBC’s “Meet the Press” aired a taped interview between the two on Sunday, and the Democrat admitted his run for mayor was risky, Today.com reported.

“From the moment go, I was waging this campaign on a bet,” he said. “And the bet was basically that I know that people have embarrassing things they would hear about me and did know about me and my background.”

Mr. Weiner, a former congressman, said he knew “100 percent” that his online sexual affairs would be a distraction in his campaign, Today.com reported.

Miss Guthrie asked whether he would still run, if given the chance to go back in time.

“No one gets to go back and redo things,” he said. “I’m convinced that I’m going to be the next mayor of this city.”

A Quinnipiac University poll published last week had Mr. Weiner at 7 percent ahead of Comptroller John Liu. New York City Public Advocate Bill de Blasio has surged to 43 percent of likely voters.
