PONTE VEDRA BEACH, FLA. (AP) - Hyundai has signed a two-year extension as title sponsor of the PGA Tour’s first tournament in the calendar year.
The Hyundai Tournament of Champions is Jan. 3-6 on the Plantation Course at Kapalua, where the tour has opened its season since 1999. Next year will be the first time it is not the season opener because the tour is going to a wraparound season that starts in October with six events.
The Tournament of Champions is for PGA Tour winners from the previous year, including the six tournaments that start the 2013-14 season.
The tour still has one year left on its contract with Kapalua as the host course.
Dustin Johnson is the defending champion of a tournament that was shortened to 54 holes this year because of a high wind.
