Former New England Patriots tight end Aaron Hernandez is due in court Friday for his arraignment on murder charges more than six weeks after his initial arrest.

Mr. Hernandez, 23, is accused by prosecutors of killing his friend, Odin Lloyd, 27, execution-style. Mr. Lloyd’s body was discovered about a mile down the road from Mr. Hernandez’s home.

Mr. Hernandez has pleaded not guilty to both murder and accompanying weapons charges. ABC reported that he’s reading “Tuesdays With Morrie” in his Bristol County jail cell while awaiting trial. The book is written by former sports writer Mitch Albom about his meetings with a former professor of his named Morrie Schwartz.

The Patriots cut Mr. Hernandez just hours after his arrest.
