Alec Baldwin officially has landed a gig in cable news, MSNBC confirmed Thursday.
The outspoken actor will host an hourlong program at 10 p.m. EDT titled “Up Late w/Alec Baldwin,” for the network’s Friday-night lineup beginning in October, Mediaite reported.
“After two seasons of my WNYC podcast, I’ve developed a fondness for hosting a show that involved talking with smart, talented and engaging people in every imaginable field,” Mr. Baldwin said in a statement. “I’m grateful to MSNBC for helping me bring a similar show to television.”
“I’ve been talking with Alec for a while and can’t wait to bring his personality and eclectic interests to MSNBC,” MSNBC President Phil Griffin said. “He’s got such passion for ideas and what’s going on in the world — he’s going to be a great addition to our line-up.”
The actor made headlines last week after he slammed and pinned a photographer onto the hood of his car for trying to take a picture of his wife, Hilaria Baldwin, who just had given birth. Neither decided to press charges.
