A massive car crash and pile-up on a road in southeast England near Kent in the early morning hours on Thursday left at least two dead and another 100 or so injured.
Emergency responders say at least 200 cars were involved in one of the worst pile-up crashes in history, BBC reported
The roads were extremely foggy and likely contributed to the crashes. The vehicles were also approaching a crossing that did not have traffic lights, BBC said. Firefighters used extrication equipment to free five from their vehicles.
Early reports put the number of vehicles involved at 40 — but that number quickly grew, as did the injury toll. Most of the 200 who were hurt have minor injuries, but authorities say a handful are in serious condition.
The Daily Mail reported two were killed, but did not provide other details, and clarified that some of the most seriously injured were transported to a nearby hospital via emergency helicopter.
