A lighting storm in a semirural southwest region of Miami left one man dead and two more injured late Monday afternoon.

Miami-Dade Fire Rescue officials reported in The Associated Press that the three men were outside when a storm hit. They attempted to take cover beneath a tractor-trailer, police said. But the tractor-trailer was struck by lightning, and the electricity passed through the metal on the vehicle to the men.

The two injured men were transported to a trauma center at a nearby hospital, and on Tuesday their condition was still unclear.

The identities of the men were not immediately released.
