Two firefighters were injured while battling a blaze at an Atlanta airport terminal on Tuesday that filled the area with heavy smoke.
Reese McCranie, a spokesman for Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport, said the fire had been contained, local station WAGA-TV reported. But Atlanta Fire Rescue Department spokeswoman Janet Ward said in an Associated Press report that two firefighters were transported to the hospital when they slipped in a pool of water while fighting the blaze.
Their injuries are minor, she said.
The fire occurred in Concourse T and involved an escalator, AP reported. Nobody else was hurt, but travel was slowed a bit and passengers were rerouted to other concourses.
Hartsfield-Jackson is the world’s busiest airport, AP said.
