A Chicago man is lucky to be alive after he was attacked by a pack of vicious pit bulls in broad daylight on Saturday.
Shawn Taylor said at least five pit bulls broke free from a fence and attacked his 25-year-old stepson, Nikita Hampton Taylor, right on the sidewalk outside of a laundromat in Chicago’s west side, CBS Chicago reported.
“They were on him like a wild wolf pack like something you’d see in the movies,” he told reporters. “He lost of a lot of blood if you go right there it’s a big puddle.”
Officials said the dogs were taken to animal control and their owner was fined.
“Any kind of irresponsible dog owner should be punished,” said 2nd Ward Alderman Bob Fiorettil, who has been trying to get tougher dog laws passed in Chicago for over a year, CBS reported.
“I heard the dogs, which I’ve heard before, then I came outside and this guy is fighting for his life,” witness Jewell Edwards told NBC Chicago News. “The skin pulled off the side of his face.”

Mr. Taylor said his stepson is recovering from surgery, but his condition is still critical.
“Thanks to all the people who jumped out of their cars to help me and to help get the dogs off my son. He wouldn’t have lived because they were on him and every time he tried to get up they pulled him back down,” he told CBS.
