President Obama had some words of praise for New York City mayoral hopeful Bill de Blasio’s son at a recent Democratic National Committee fundraiser: Your hair is great.
“My afro was never that good,” Mr. Obama said, The Hill reported.
The president was speaking at the DNC in support of Mr. de Blasio, who faces a November election against Republican Joe Lhota for the city’s highest executive role.
He said: “We are thrilled with Bill. His son, Dante, who has the same hairdo I had back in 1978. Although I have to confess, my afro was never that good. It was a little unbalanced.”
Dante is 15, The Hill reported. He garnered national attention in his father’s campaign ad, with a starring role that helped boost Mr. de Blasio’s numbers during the competitive primary run.
The Hill reported that Mr. de Blasio still maintains high favor among likely city voters, touting a 40 percent lead in recent polls over Mr. Lhota.
