MADRID (AP) - Cristiano Ronaldo has signed a new contract with Real Madrid that will keep him at the Spanish club until 2018.
The 28-year-old Ronaldo ended months of speculation surrounding his future by inking a deal Sunday with club president Florentino Perez that extended his former commitment to Madrid through 2015 by three more years.
Ronaldo told a packed media hall that “it’s a very special day for me,” and that “I’m very grateful, above all to the president and to my fans who always support me. It’s for them that I will continue on here until what could be the end of my career.”
Madrid did not disclose financial details of the deal.
Ronaldo has scored more than 50 goals in each of the last three seasons with Madrid after joining in 2009 from Manchester United.
