Don’t count Rep. Mike Rogers, chairman of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, among those applauding the tentative deal between the Obama administration and Russia over chemical weapons in Syria.
Mr. Rogers, appearing on CNN’s “State of the Union” on Sunday, said Russian President Vladimir Putin has outmaneuvered President Obama in the showdown in the Middle East.
“I do think Putin is playing chess and we’re playing tick-tack-toe,” Mr. Rogers, Michigan Republican, said.

“This is a Russian plan for Russian interests. They got exactly what they wanted. Not one ounce of chemical weapons came off the battlefield, but we’ve given up every ounce of our leverage when it comes to trying to solve the broader Syrian problem, because we’ve taken away a credible military threat.”
