With his address about Syria to the American people, President Obama once again showed his political ineptness in trying to make himself and his cohort, Secretary of State John F. Kerry, look presidential (“Obama bombs in political speech,” Commentary, Sept. 12). Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry’s political ploy of diverting the media’s attention from the many White House scandals to a hyped-up war for “humanitarian” purposes has been a disaster.

It has become clear that Mr. Obama and Mr. Kerry are only spurred by political motivation. If they were truly interested in saving women and children from atrocities, why not begin with North Korea and China? These two countries have massacred millions of their own people. Where is the public outcry and the strike force there? Nowhere to be found, of course.

Mr. Obama’s only concern in this recent political gambit is one of diversion and deception.
