The domestic violence trial Tom Hanks is currently serving as a juror came to a screeching halt on Wednesday after a fan reportedly approached him in a stairwell.
During a lunch break on Wednesday, a female member of the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office approached the actor and thanked him for his jury service, TMZ reported.
The prosecutor then disclosed that a member of the City Attorney’s Office made “inappropriate contact” with a juror.
“The defense then asked for a hearing to prove prosecutorial misconduct,” TMZ reported. “At that point, lawyers on both sides started talking and a plea deal was cut.
Andrew Flier, the defendant’s lawyer told TMZ that the woman reportedly gushed over Mr. Hanks and his star status.
The defendant had been charged with domestic violence and faced up to a year in jail. Instead, he got a $150 fine, TMZ reported.
