A Transportation Security Administration screener who quit Tuesday was arrested Wednesday, police said, after he left a suspicious package at Los Angeles International Airport and threatened several of the terminals.
Agents with the FBI’s Joint Terrorism Task Force in Los Angeles arrested Nna Alpha Onuoha, 29, of Inglewood, Calif., early Wednesday, CBS reported.
A spokeswoman for the FBI, Laura Eimiller, said agents didn’t find explosives in the package. But they did find an eight-page letter that he allegedly wrote, speaking of his hatred for the United States, she said. Mr. Onuoha left the package and then contacted airport workers, advising them to evacuate some of the terminals, Ms. Eimiller said in the CBS report.
Moreover, agents who subsequently searched his home discovered a note taped inside his closet that referenced the 9/11 anniversary in a threatening way, she said.
Mr. Ohuoha was charged with making threats. Officials evacuated some of the terminals for a period to allow agents to check them and clear them of all risks.
