An unidentified seller is taking his medical records of the late Hollywood beauty Marilyn Monroe — complete with X-rays that supposedly prove she had cosmetic surgery — and heading to the auction block.
Julien’s Auctions, based in Beverly Hills, Calif., will be offering the records to the highest bidder Nov. 9-10. The records could collect anywhere from $15,000 to $30,000, experts say, in the International Business Times. But that could a low-ball figure: A set of three of the star’s X-rays sold for $45,000 in 2010.
The seller in this latest auction offering declined to be identified. But reports indicate that the medical records span Monroe’s medical treatments and visits between 1950 and 1962 and that they were given to the seller by Dr. Michael Gurdin, a Hollywood plastic surgeon, IBT said.
“Nobody really thought about Marilyn Monroe having plastic surgery,” Julien’s Auctions Executive Director Martin Nolan told Reuters. “It was always speculation — did she or didn’t she? They thought she was such a natural beauty, they didn’t want to believe.”
Mr. Nolan also said few people underwent plastic surgeries back then. Some of Monroe’s suspected surgeries include work on her chin and nose.
Her medical records also reveal that she used the alias Joan Newman for the procedures.
