Second Amendment supporters and activists in Colorado, buoyed by two recent recall wins, have launched another petition drive to oust a third Democrat who voted in favor of the state’s much-ballyhooed new gun control laws from office.
Leaders of the recall drive received the necessary certification from the Colorado Secretary of State to go ahead with their effort and solicit signatures to remove Sen. Evie Hudak, The Denver Post reported.
“She has infringed upon our constitutional right to keep and bear arms. She has voted to make all citizens less safe and to drive hundreds of jobs from Colorado,” said Mike McAlphine, a spokesman for the recall group, in Fox News.
They need 18,900 signatures within 60 days to get the issue on the ballot.
In addition to supporting Colorado’s new background check requirements and magazine limits, Ms. Hudak made nationwide news for comments she made to a rape victim who testified against a proposed ban on concealed weapons on college campuses. The victim said if guns were allowed on campus, she could have fought off her attacker.
Ms. Hudak’s response, The Denver Post reported: “I just want to say that, actually, statistics are not on your side even if you had a gun … and chances are that if you would have had a gun, then he would have been able to get that from you and possibly use it against you.”

Recall organizers were successful in ousting Sens. John Morse and Angela Giron. Last week, two Republicans were sworn in to their seats.
