Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg said she’s not worried about retiring before President Obama leaves office because she’s confident another Democrat will be right behind him.
“I think it’s going to be another Democratic president” after Mr. Obama, Justice Ginsburg told The Washington Post. “The Democrats do fine in presidential elections; their problem is they can’t get out the vote in the midterm elections.”
Justice Ginsburg, 80, who has battled cancer twice, recalled that Justice John Paul Stevens retired when he was 90.
“When I can’t do the job, there will be signs” to retire, she said. “I know that Justice Stevens was concerned the last few years about his hearing. I’ve had no loss of hearing yet. But who knows when it could happen?”
